BAMAKO, Mali (SCANS) — A fire broke out late Sunday at a market in Mali’s capital, damaging several shops and stalls, according to local media reports and witness accounts.
The blaze started shortly before midnight at the Soukounicoura market in the Médina Coura neighborhood of Bamako, witnesses told local outlets.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and worked to contain the flames.The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Local reports said the blaze caused significant material damage, with multiple shops and market stalls destroyed.
